Give the Gift of Hope

"You would be very surprised at what we call a small amount of money like $10 can do in some parts of the world.  I'm talking about a lot – I'm talking about actually saving children's lives."  – Khyentse Norbu

Dear friends,

As you prepare to enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones, we hope you will take a moment to reflect on the millions of women and children confronting dire poverty throughout the developing world.

The communities served by Lotus Outreach are among the most impoverished and disenfranchised on the planet.  Many of the young girls we meet in Cambodia are forced to collect snails and insects for food.  Others have no choice but to sell their bodies to make ends meet.  In India, children as young as four are forced to work long days in sweltering brick kilns or stone quarries—almost always at the expense of attending school.

But it doesn't have to be this way.  In an effort to relay what even a small donation means in practical terms, we have attached our holiday "wish list" featuring popular consumer products, how much they cost, and how an equivalent cash donation to Lotus Outreach can literally change the world of our beneficiaries by improving access to education, health and economic opportunity in a sustainable, cost-effective manner.

We invite you, your friends and family to consider spending less on consumer products this season and instead 'give the gift of hope' to the women and children who need it most.  To make your year-end, tax deductible contribution, visit http://lotusoutreach.org/ and click the 'Donate Now' button or click here.  You can also call me toll free at (888) 831-9990 to make a donation by telephone.

We thank you for your ongoing support, and wish you health, peace and prosperity in 2012.

Warmest regards,

Erika Keaveney
