The Julius Nyerere Scholarship was set up in 2009 and give to Tazmanian students who want to study in University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The three Scholarships are awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit, with candidates requiring a Bachelors degree equivalent to a UK First Class Honours ('First') or Upper Division/Upper Second Class Honours ('2:1') degree.

Eligibility
The scholarships will be awarded to Tanzanian citizens who are normally resident in Tanzania, and who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate Master's programme of study at the University of Edinburgh.

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.

Institute of Molecular BioSciences, College of Sciences, Massey University, New Zealand are looking for a motivated and productive postdoctoral fellow to explore fungal genome evolution, including lateral gene transfer, using comparative genome data and novel computational analysis.

Eligibility:

  • A PhD in bioinformatics, or computational biology or otherwise applicable field (interpreted broadly)
  • Able to conduct independent cutting-edge research
  • Proven research experience, including some evidence of a publication record
  • Strong quantitative skills, including some background in (basic) scripting
  • Candidates with a background in applied mathematics/physics/computer science are especially encouraged to apply
  • Candidates will ideally be conversant in at least one programming language
  • Additional bioinformatic, computational and/or statistical experience would be an advantage
  • Good quantitative skills
