RE: [dfcommunity] PhD scholarship

Dear Mr. Mathews Tsirizeni,

Thank you for your interest in the National Graduate Institute for Policy
Studies (GRIPS). This is Admissions Office.

We are now accepting online applications for 2012 admissions for the Ph.D.
programs. For online application procedures, please see:
http://www.grips.ac.jp/pstudents/admissions/online.html

We offer one-year Master's programs, three-year Ph.D. programs, and a
five-year Policy Analysis program in which the master's and doctoral courses
are integrated. For more information on our programs, please see:
http://www.grips.ac.jp/pstudents/degree.html

To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programs, an applicant must hold a
Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognized/accredited university of
the highest standard.

There are the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology) scholarship and GRIPS Fellowship available for the Ph.D.
programs. Those who are applying for the MEXT scholarship should be under
35 years of age as of April 1 of the admission year. There is no age limit
for the GRIPS Fellowship, however, please understand that both scholarships
are so competitive that every applicant cannot get a chance of it.

The international programs are taught entirely in English, so Japanese
language proficiency is not required. Applicants must satisfy GRIPS' English
language requirements (min. TOEFL iBT79/PBT550 scores or IELTS 6.0; an
official score report is required). Applicants who completed their
undergraduate/graduate education in English can provide evidence of English
proficiency by submitting an official document proving that the medium of
instruction at the university was English. In this case, the official score
report is not required.

The details on eligibility terms, deadlines, age limitations, contact
addresses and the time to start accepting candidates vary by program. For
more information on admission requirements, please see:
http://www.grips.ac.jp/pstudents/admissions/requirements.html

For more information on how to apply, please see:

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
