The AICPA Minority Scholarship awards outstanding minority students to encourage their selection of accounting as a major and their ultimate entry into the profession.

Eligibility

  • An underrepresented minority in the accounting profession (e.g., Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; or Asian American)
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate (12 semester hours or equivalent) or a full-time graduate level student (9 semester hours or equivalent) for the 2011-12 academic year. (Note: an exception may be made if you plan to participate in an internship program.)
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in an 'accounting-related' major. ('Accounting-related' shall be as determined by Sponsor in Sponsor's sole discretion.)
  • Planning to pursue the CPA licensure but not presently be a CPA
  • Maintained an overall and major GPA of at least 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Completed at least 30 semester hours (or equivalent) of college coursework, including at least 6 semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting, by end of spring 2011
  • Applied to or been accepted into a public or private, 501(c) four-year college or university located in the U.S. states or territories. The business program must be accredited by the AACSB and/or ACBSP.
  • An AICPA student affiliate member (or have submitted a new member application). Apply online at no cost: www.thiswaytocpa.com/aicpa-student-membership
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
  • Some financial need (i.e., not receiving a full or partial scholarship(s) and/or grant(s) that cover and/or exceed one's educational expenses)

The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) invites applications to its Ph.D. program. Successful applicants for the Ph.D. and Post-doc fellowships will pursue a topic in one of BIGSSS' five Thematic Fields. All fellows are expected to choose Bremen as their place of residence.

Eligibility

  • An excellent MA degree (or national equivalents like the German 'Diplom' or 'Magister') in a discipline pertinent to at least one of BIGSSS' five Thematic fields (see above), i.e. inPolitical Science (including related degree programs in European Studies or International Relations), Sociology, Psychology, Law, Economics or Mass Communication. The degree must be completed by the end of July of the year of application, which means you may apply before having finished your MA degree.
  • English proficiency as described in the application materials section below.
  • Additionally BIGSSS offers 2 Preparatory Fellowships to particularly talented BA Graduates. Please refer to Preparatory Fellowships to find out more about the program.
